SPECTRUM “TECH” RIDER FOR STEPHEN STILLS/NEIL YOUNG CONCERT AT THE SPECTRUM 1976

The first page of the "tech rider" for the Stephen Stills & Neil Young show at the Spectrum during the Bicentennial Year. I was one of the two requested truck unloaders. COURTESY: ROGER BARONE ARCHIVES.

STILLS/YOUNG: THE SPECTRUM (JUNE 29, 1976)

Tech (technical) Riders were given to the Operations’ Department manager about a week before the show. This was a simple show with two semi-trailers containing all the equipment. The “Elvis” stage setup was being utilized. Elvis probably played a few days before or after Stills and Young as the same stage features were utilized for both concerts.

“Ray W” is Ray Westergard, who was the Assistant Director of Operations, under Colonel Frank Herbert. Westergard’s father, Herbert, worked at the employees’ entrance. He was a kind man, who would let us enter the arena early on show nights so we could watch the shows. He allowed our friends in, too. We respected him and never abused his generosity.

I met Stephen Stills for the first time on this night. He signed a photo for me, and posed for pictures later.
