Joe Lala a longtime friend and percussionist for Stephen Stills smokes a cigarette and enjoys a beer before taking the stage with the Stills/Young Band at the Spectrum Arena. Lala, who suffered with arthritis, left the music business and became an actor. Lala appeared regularly in the “Miami Vice” series and an episode of Seinfeld. © Roger Barone 1976/2014

JOE LALA/STILLS & YOUNG BAND: THE SPECTRUM (June 29, 1976)

Joe Lala, a well-known percussionist of Cuban ancestry, performed with Blues Image of  “Ride Captain Ride” fame, before joining Stephen Stills and Manassas in 1971. Lala  became an integral part of the CSNY family and played on the 1974 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young summer stadium tour.
