During the Flyers/Buffalo Sabers Stanley Cup Finals playoff series in 1975, the Buffalo War Memorial Arena was clouded in fog as the warm spring weather arrived. The Spectrum was fog free. As a gag, several changeover crew members created a large banner which said, “Look Tom Dorff, No Fog At The Spectrum” and hung it from the second level.  Tom Dorff was out of town and everyone knew he’d be watching. Arrangements were made with the NBC crew to take a shot of it for broadcast. It was a sweet tribute to a wonderful man, whose son, Tom Jr., now a Christian Music folk singer,  also worked at the Spectrum. © roger barone 1975
